This is an ongoing research project on religious disbelief and atheism in the Roman Empire as it appears across Greek and Latin texts written both by non-Christian and Christian authors. Some of this work has already been published – on Lucian see here and here, and on Plutarch here – some of it is forthcoming, and a monograph on the subject is in progress.
